The Inspector Green Tag Thing

Apparently, I just got myself tag by fellow aniblogger SirCalvin to answer several question regarding anime. To be honest, there’s certain joy inside of me to be tag like this because in some ways I feel like my existence has been known/acknowledge around the community of anitwitter/blogsphere.

Although, the downside is I have to answer several question that was a bit of a pain to do, but hey, that means you get to see some of my insight right? Well, kind of..

Anyway here are the question 🙂

1. When was the last time you went to a store containing anime?

I think it was about two years ago. But said anime’s was…..gain through not exactly legal means.

Yeahhh….

Although, when I went to Kuala Lumpur about a year ago, I did ran into many DVD store that contains several legal anime’s.

2. Do you usually watch anime online? On what website?

I do. Usually on legal streaming site stuff like Crunchyroll and Hulu. But the former didn’t really gave me much anime because of my region and the latter only streamed shows for american audience, so I have to use proxy server in order to hide my IP address. And from time to time they don’t always work.

Its somewhat convoluted and I could just go to fansubs, but I don’t know. It feels morally wrong for me to do that, even though I don’t know if using proxy was “right” to begin with 😛

3. First Japanese word you learned from an anime?

It was “Nani!” I think.

4. Best animation style in your opinion?

I’m not keen enough to know what count as “good” animation and I’m neither familiar with studio “house style” nor knowledgeable enough to know what makes them distinct.

But I’m going to have to say KyoAni. Their animation are beautiful and they’re very good at physical expression. Especially in Hyouka where they used it to elevate the story (I have to finished it at some point). Shaft is also quite good. There’s something about surreal and fantasy-like animation that really appeals to me.

5. Best anime pet?

Hey, Digimon counts right?

6. What is the longest anime you’ve ever watched?

According to my MAL account, it was Hunter x Hunter 2011. But to be honest, I skip several episodes in Heaven’s Arena and Yorknew, because I already watch the original when I was in elementary. Although I don’t remember the detail of the event that happened.

So I guess it’s SKET Dance.

7. What is the shortest anime you’ve ever watched?

Not counting OVA or shorts, its Chaika S2 and DAL II.

8: What is your Favorite anime couple?

From what I’ve watched, I’m going to have to say Kiritsugu and Irisviel. Their relationship aren’t explored much in Fate/Zero but I do think their personalities match with Irisviel in particular being the mediator between Kiritsugu and Saber. It’s also quite rare to see a married couple being the main protagonists in an anime, so that’s a plus.

I also heard the Drama CD centering how the two met and bond until they grew to love one and another written by Gen Urobuchi himself. Its quite good and somewhat tragic considering Kiritsugu has to sacrifice Irisviel one day in order to get the holy grail.

Okay, that’s all of the question. Thanks SirCalvin if you’re reading this, for the opportunity 🙂

After this I also have to tag three bloggers for them to answer these questions themselves. So I decided to tag Iblessall, ZeroReq011 and finally fellow novice aniblogger, FabledHunter.

Do you think I will miss a lot too if I just skip everything I had already watched in the original and jump straight to the insect mutant arc?

    1. Depends on when did you watch the original and how much did you remember them. Chimera Ant builds off on longstanding relationship between Gon and Killua. In order to for the several “emotional” moments related to those two to be effective, you need to be “there with them” so to speak.

Other than that, nope. You can still enjoy the arc 🙂
